Surnames out of this great database
Gomez, Rodriguez, Fernandez... Spanish surnames which mean, respectively such things as "son of Gome", "Son of Rodrigo (Spanish and Italian variant of Roderick; Famous power)", "Son of Fernando (Spanish and Portuguese form of Ferdinand; Ready to journey)"... May be traced up to determaining it's "son of something" the problem is... of what? Outdated names like "Gome" remain undeciphered in most surnames-concerning webpages which rather point the deed of any holder of the surname who owned a coat of arms... And forget the entire point of surname's etymology, among which lies the importance of translating to it's most comprehensive form... Gomez (and Gomes) is a popular surname... yet... I've failed to find it's full etymology in the web... likewise there are many other surnames which would be appreciable to find in this great site... Being this all... I leave with a fare well and a farewell for you reader... Bye...
