Does anyone know the origin of the surname Reason? We pronounce it like Reeson but my grandmother and others in the family say that reason is the correct spelling and it is pronounced reeson not like reason.

It is very hard to find information regarding this name

It comes from (von) Riesen, which is a German name pronounced like the word 'reason'. Riesen means 'giants' but the name probably has a different origin.

Many Reason came from England of course.
