Machulis/Mikulis?
I have a friend who's last name is Machulis. I do not know its origin. I just came across the name Mikulis (the last name of an author of an article) and I thought it looked Greek and that the two might possibly be related. Does anyone have any leads on where they come from or if they are related?

To me, it seems like a variant of Michaelis, which is the latinized form of Michael.

I think Mikulis is Lithuanian. I know there is a Lithuanian surname, Mikulaitis. As for the meaning, possibly from a version of Nicholas, possibly from Michael.
Machulis doesn't look like the same name. I would expect a spelling Machoulis if it were Greek, but who knows?

Machulis is the americanized spelling of a Lithuanian surname.
