Now the Saint

According to Herder's Lexikon der Heiligen und Heiligenverehrung Vol 1, Exuperius (according to tradition) was the first bishop of Bayeux (4th cent.)
The "Heiligenlexikon" (www.heiligenlexikon.de) gives "he who devotes himself" as the meaning of his name. I couldn't find anything matching in my Greek dictionaries, but maybe somebody else does.

Ex(s)uperius is derived from Latin ex(s)uper 'above'. Ex(s)uperare means 'to rise above, to surpass' so Ex(s)uperius should mean 'he who rises above'.
ahh, okay, thanks guys, this explains a lot better and is what I've been looking for.
This makes a lot more sense than what I found. Thanx!
