Hello, I was wondering about the surname Toukan, I'm not sure about the backround on it, I thought maybe Middle Eastern or something. Thanks for any help!

Toukan is a variation of Tawkan / Tawqan. It is a Cirassian name (N. Caucasus). I don't know what language it is. Kurdish 'tawqan' means: highest point, climax, summit, zenith, apogee.

Probably it was a mistake when the response was typed. The language is Circassian, and the country Circassia.
However I wonder whether two other american surnames like Toucan and Tukan could be Circassian.

It encompassed the area between the Black Sea, the Kuban River, and the Caucasus, now largely the Krasnodar Territory of south-east European Russia.
