RUCCI, together with RUCCIO, RUCCIA, RUCCIONE, RUCCELLO,
could be an hypochoristic of first names like PETRUCCIO, CASTRUCCIO,
PIERUCCIO (a diminutive of Peter). However this surname is spread in Southern Italy: especially By BARI, Apulia region, By ROME, the regions of ABRUZZO and MOLISE and by NAPLES, Campania region.

Reading Google i had the impression that RUCCI and RUCCIO are mor popular in USA than in Italy.

This surname has not been studied too much yet.
