Surnames Suveges, Steier and Sevic
Could anyone help to verify the origins and meaning of the surnames Suveges, Steier (possibly Slavified from Steyr) and Sevic? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Süveges is a Hungarian name derived from süveg 'high fur cap', the nickname of someone who made these items or habitually wore one. You'll find the origin of Steier at http://www.ancestry.com/facts/Steier-family-history.ashx. It can also be a variant of Steuer which is at http://www.ancestry.com/facts/steuer-family-history.ashx. Šević is Serbo-Croatian but I don't have the etymology.
