Kimbrough- Kimborough- Kemborough- Kenborough. All these forms exist, and I think perhaps they may be connected in this way, Kenborough being the oldest. 'Borough' means castle or fortified town. 'Ken' may refer to the river Kenn, as it does in 'Kenton', a place in Devonshire.
