I'd like to know the origin of Foglai. Is it Italian by any chance ?

No there are any FOGLAI in ITALY.
Perhaps only the surname FOGLIA has a quite similar spelling, but the pronounciation is quite different.

It's just a web name for me since Steve was already taken ...you're correct that the pronounciation is very different. The 'g' is aspirated to the point of nearly being silent.

No, it's Irish Gaelic for Foley ...which as I noted in a previous thread means plunderer but in my family's case, it's a mistranslation of MacSerraich ...serraich, being a small horse or foal ...it's also written Ó Foghladha ...
