Re: Meaning of "Lojan" ?

There is a Polish surname, Lojan, spelt with a barred L, so pronounced something like WOyahn. I can't find a meaning for it though.

From what I've been able to gather, Lojan is a Czech and Slovak surname. If it's related to Polish Łojan and Łojan is a variant of surnames like Łojek, Łojko, etc., then it could be derived from the word meaning 'tallow, suet' (Polish łój, Slovak loj, Czech lůj).
thank you, I'm trying to find out more about my ancestors
