Is Soren really a variation of Thor?
That sounds really weird.
I have allways heard that it was just another way to wright Sören (Søren).

You know I think you're right. Sorensen is not a real Scandinavian surname at all. And Soren is just a corrupted spelling of Søren. Anthony thinks so as well:
