Redfield.
Does anyone know what the etymology of "Redfield" is? I've only found one site that includes the etymology, and it claims it's Scottish, comes from "Reidfuyrd", and means "reedy ford", but since it's the only site that says that, I question the validity of it.

That's what I think it means. Two famous bearers of this name are the Redfield siblings in Resident Evil who are named Chris and Claire.

You're right to question it. Redfield is an alteration of Redfin (at least in the US) as you can see at http://surnames.behindthename.com/bb/view.php?id=3799080&board=sur. In other cases, the origin might be the placename Redfield in Bristol (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redfield,_Bristol) and that's nowhere near Scotland.

Do you know what it means?

I have no direct evidence but it seems quite plausible that Redfin could be an alteration of Redfern whose origin you'll find at http://www.ancestry.com/facts/Redfern-name-meaning.ashx
