I am trying to find out the meaning of what is usually the surname Wingrove. It is my dads first name and to this day he has never found out what it means. Any ideas?

Just a guess ...'Win' can mean either "friend-ly" or "winding" and 'grove' of course a grove of trees - this being if it is, as I suspect, English.
