Just an idea: could it be from the slavic word "most" that is "bridge"? Strange thing this appears to be a surname from Norway, according to internet suggestions.

Thanks!! It would be nice to know if "must" is an older version of modern Slavic "most", I don't know if there is any old Slavic dictionary available around (I have none unfortunately) or maybe some hints to all this online.
