This is the surname of my grandfather, whose parents came to the US around a hundred years ago. The spelling has not been altered, and I'm curious of the meaning.

all i can think of is that it might be i variant of Boström, but it's definitely Swedish. The Swedish word ström means "stream". There is a Swedish word bon but it is used in business and seems as a very new term. There is the verb bo which means "to live, reside, dwell".
