Curious about the last name Badena. It is my mother's surname and we've never met another family of the same name. My mother is from Mexico, but her father has European ancestry. Any knowledge?? Would be grateful for any response.

It could be a variant of spanish form like Badenas. A place name originally meaning "pool"

Thanks! It may be Spanish. I know my great-grandmother was a Spanish immigrant, but my great-grandfather's lineage is unknown. My grandfather was an orphan at a very young age and doesn't really talk about his biological parents or childhood.
