okay, if it's from Sulkowski then the meaning is like this:it is composed of sulek and the suffix -owski, the latter meaning "from, pertaining to". Sulek has the suffix -ek meaning "little" so it's a diminutive and the sul-part comes from the Slavic firstname Sulimir which is composed of suli "promise" and mir "peace". Thus, Sulkowski means "pertaining to Sulimir" and Sulimir means "promise and peace". Sulkowski basically means "one from the place of Sulimir" thus "one from Sulkow". There are four placenames similar to Sulkow, namely Sulkowice, Sulkowo, Sulkowo Bariany and Sulkowo Rzeczne.http://www.ancestry.com/learn/facts/Fact.aspx?fid=10&yr=0&ln=Sulek

The surname Sul is also found in Poland though it's rare.
