Leptich
All I know about my family is that they immigrated from either Germany or Austria sometime around the beginning of the 20th century. My grandfather, who carried the name, died when my father was only 9 months old so my father really didn't know his relatives, other than they spoke German. I'm curious about the origins of the surname as well as its meaning. If someone can find these two things out for me, that would be incredible. Sincerely,Matthew J. Leptich

My grandmother is a Leptic, but I knew that was shortended at Ellis Island. We were told of her great grandmother leaving the harbor in Budapest at 13 and finding a husband on the boat on her way to America. When I did more research, I found that the name derived from Leiptich, or Lieptizc.. most concentrated from an area of Romania, which would make sense given the story. I hope that helps!
