Herkstrotter?
Does anyone know what the origins of the surname Herkstrotter are? I think it's German but I'm not sure. I've also seen Herkströter - are the two surnames related/variants of each other? Thanks in advance.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They told me I was gullible... and I believed them.

The German spelling is Herkströter (or Herkstroeter). The name is found in the North Rhine-Westphalia region. I've no idea of the meaning. The -er ending usually belongs to a surname from a place name, e.g. Kissinger from Kissingen, or to an occupational surname, e.g., Schneider, Weber.
