This is possibly German, more likely Dutch. My grandmother would love to know the origins of this name. Can anyone help me?

It is claimed here -

that Selous is an anglicised form of the Dutch name Slous. However I can find no evidence of the existence of the names, Slous, Selous, Van Slous in the Netherlands. Sluis is a Dutch place name.
