hyphenated names
when you hyphenate your mother's maiden name and your fathers last name, which USUALLY goes first? does it even matter?
also, i saw the last name "Bayer-Fuerst" (german). one is the mother's maiden name and the other is the father's last name. would the meanings stay separate or would what would it be then?
thank you =]

Usually mother's maiden name goes first, then father's surname. However, nowadays this really doesn't matter and you can do whatever feels right.
Meanings stay separate though, because they are separate names.

in most cases, I've seen it only as maiden name then father's last name.
meanings are seperate, because they're still 2 different names
