Does anybody know the origins and meaning of surname Twigden? This surname Twigden is mostly found in New Zealand and is rare in the British isles. Is the surname Twigden of English origins?

Twigden can be traced back to Northamptonshire in the 1400s as you can see at http://tinyurl.com/3dtrcxe. It would seem to come from a placename (where den means 'valley').
