Dinesen and Blixen
Both Danish. Wondering what they meant. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

Dinesen is like English Denison 'son of Den(n)is' whose origin you'll find at http://www.ancestry.com/facts/Dennis-family-history.ashx. The name Blix exists in Denmark so Blixen must be 'son of Blix' but I don't know the etymology of this name.
Perhaps the name Blix is of Swedish origin, a variant of Swedish surname Blixt, meaning "lightning", a soldier's name or an ornamental name (http://www.ancestry.com/facts/Blixt-family-history.ashx).
The surname Blixen is also found in Sweden, and the surname Dinesen is also found in Norway mostly in region called Finnmark.
