Or even an anglicized variant of PULIAFICO. This surname still exists in Sicily, but i ignore the original meaning, possibly it came from a nickname!

It sounds italian. But a surname like this doesn't exist in Italian telephone directories.
I have found Paliafico, but it is only written in Ellis Island records.
Paliafico is sicilian. Paleafico could be a changing in spelling?
I don't know.
