Does anyone have any information on the surname Juneau?
The only thing I know (this is my husband's last name) is that his family is French Canadian (from Quebec).

Juneau is an alteration of Jouineau (via Juineau) which is derived from Jouin, from the Latin name Jovinus derived from Jovis ‘Jupiter’. His ancestor was either
Jean Jouineau/Juineau from La Rochelle in Charente-Maritime (Poitou-Charentes) or Pierre Jouineau/Juineau from Angoulins in Charente-Maritime, both of whom arrived in Québec around 1655-1660.
