Re: Maxon

Maxon is an English name which is probably a variant of Mackson 'Mack's son' as Dixon is of Dickson 'Dick's son'.

Possibly, like Moxon, Magson and Megson, derived from a diminutive of Margaret, so from a female ancestor.

I think you're probably right. Maxon, Mackson, Moxon, Magson and Megson all seem to originate in North Yorkshire.

Oh thanks, I thought the "son" part might be involved but was not sure about the name... I mean... Macson would mean "grandson" or, literally "son of a son"... Thanks :D
