Origin of the surname Wohling
Wohling is a surname that is floating around on my family tree, a few generations back. I'd really like to know what it means, though I've found little - some university on facebook with "Wohling" in it is really just about as much as I've found, along with some Jewish (or... Polish, I think) that resembled Wohling.
As for the relative that had the name, well, she was half German and half Irish. Beyond that, I don't know much about her, though.

Wöhling is one of many German names, e.g., Wohler, Wöhlert, Wölke, etc., that are derived from Wolder, a dialectal form of Walter.
