Re: Feacher
in reply to a message by Marc
Most bearers of this surname Feacher are African Americans, and they are mostly found in Florida. I think this African American surname Feacher ultimately derives from the word "fish" a name for a fisherman. According to http://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?surname=Feacher, there are also German bearers, meaning there is of German origin. The German Feachers, although few, I think is a variant of German Fischer, Ficher, Fecher or other German surnames. The African American surname Feacher could derived from the English Fisher, English Fitcher, or English and French Peacher. I think it is of French origin, and possible a variant of Peacher, a name for a fisherman, as seen on http://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?surname=PeacherThere is another surname, Preacher, an African American surname mostly found in Florida. Perhaps there is a relationship, but I don't know. If its true, then it may have been a name for a preacher.
