Yesenin
Anyone know what the Russian surname Yesenin means? TIA.

Three possible explanations it seems -
1.From the dialect word yesenia, meaning Autumn, osen' in standard Russian. In this case it is taken to be a name or nickname for a child born in Autumn.
2. A diminutive form of the male given name Evsevii (Greek Eusebius)
3. A diminutive form of the male given name Yesip a variant of Yosip or Yosif (Joseph).

Interesting! Do you know to which dialect yeseia belongs? Just curious.
According to my Russian source Yesenia ('winter') is from the dialect of Ryazanschine, which I take to be Ryazan province, south-east of Moscow. The poet Sergei Yesenin was born in this province.
Sorry for the late reply to this, I did not notice the supplementary question.

I think it's most likely the first origin.
