McKale
I would like to know the meaning of the surname McKale.
Heard it a few times, but haven't found the meaning yet.

McKale is an alteration of McHale as you can see at tinyurl.com/8as7w3t. You'll find the origin of McHale at http://www.ancestry.ca/name-origin?surname=mchale.
This surname McKale/McCale could either derive from the Gaelic Mac Céile, the Gaelic Mac Cathail, or even possibly from the Gaelic Mac Cathmhaoil. Variants include McKail, McCail, McKeal, and McHale. Basically these variants could be an anglicized form of either these three Gaelic names, including McHale. Variants of the Mac Cathail line are McCall, McCahill, McKall, MacKall and others.
