Gestetner
Anyone knows the etymology of this strange surname? I think its German... sounds German but I cannot recognize a single lexeme although I am guessing the possible ways to brake it; Gest-Etner, Gest-et-ner, Ges-Tetner, Ges-Tet-ner, Gestetn-er, Gestet-ner...

Very strange. Anyway, according to Jewish Family Names and Their Origins: An Etymological Dictionary, Gestetner is from Middle High German gestete 'river bank'.
