I have found in wikipedia that the place called Villegas was "Villa Egas" which leaves only this mystery... What does "egas" means?

http://surnames.meaning-of-names.com/Villegas/Villegas Meaning:  one who came from, or lived near a town where manufacturing was done; one who came from a town near Burgas, comprised of `ville' (town) plus `gas' which is a diminutive for Fabrigas (town where manufacturing is done).
