The first is mistranslated as "glue" and the second gave rise to the word for a type of bomb and debris... anyone knows what these surname actually meant?

You'll find the origin of Blucher at http://www.ancestry.com/name-origin?surname=blucher. Shrapnel(l) is an English surname which is thought to come from French Charbonnel via Sharpanel. Charbonnel is derived from charbon 'coal'.
