Does anyone know the origin of the surname Rykiel? I believe it to be Polish, but it sounds more Germanic to me. If anyone knows what it means or the origin of it. I will be greatly pleased.

Rykiel is definitely Polish as you can see at http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/rykiel.html. It seems to be derived from ryk 'to moo, roar, growl, yell'.
