Looking at the distribution of this surname I found that it belongs overwhelmingly to South America, particularly Chile. Considering the Spanish pronunciation of the letter J I'm wondering if this could be a version of the Arabic name Makhluf/Makhlouf?
That said, I've no idea of the meaning of that surname which is found in Lebanon.
