Hi,

My Great Grandfather was adopted and Keidel is his birth surname. I can't find it on here pronounced "Ky-dull". He is German. Can anyone help me with this please?

Keidel is from Middle High German kīdel which originally meant 'wedge' but which later came to mean 'ruffian, roughneck, brute'.

Thank you for this. My Great Grandfather's birth name is Keidel but he was adopted when he was young. It's very hard to trace my roots after his parents because of this:(
