Meaning of "Babb"
Babb is an English name with Arabic origins. It means "GATE". The "Babb" family were the gate keeper's between England and the Holy Land. Involved in the moving of supplies, and managing hospitals for the wounded, etc. during some of the Crusades.

True that bab is Arabic for 'gate', but the English surname has a different origin. It is either a familiar form of Barbara, and so a metronym (name of a female ancestor), or a nickname from the word babe.
