Syndergaard
We aren't sure of this, but Syndergaar, my mothers maiden name, may have come from "Synder River Guard" as my family has proposed, they also think it's Norwegian or Danish. It's just a Hypothesis, I haven't any evidance so I'll keep looking.

Well, I can help you with that much, that it IS Danish or Norveigan.

I've done some searching and found that this name has no known origin. So I think I'll just break it up, and search it might work it might not.

It looks Nordic and a place-name. The spelling has probably changed. As it stand it appears to mean "sinner's yard/enclosure". I suspect it might originally have been more like Sondergard. If so it probably identifies a piece of land formerly part of a larger estate, later fenced off.
