Message: "Surname Best" - Behind the Name

I have found a different meaning for this surname than the one given in this site, most sites say the following: https://www.surnamedb.com/Surname/Best but here it is attributed to some river called Beste, I cannot find that river on google or its tiponimy and the etyomology of its name.

The origin of Best given at http://surnames.behindthename.com/name/best is total hogwash. German Best is either derived from the given name Sebastian or the placename Besten.

I cannot find the etymology of the placename Besten.

Nor can I find the link between sebastos /sebastian to best

The two origins of German Best are in Kohlheim & Kohlheim's Familiennamen and the relation to Sebastian is also at http://www.ancestry.ca/name-origin?surname=best.

Thanks! This only leaves two alternative toponymies, Besten or Beste, without clear meaning... Both are from places google cannot even acknowledge, even less give you their meaning.

You'll find the two places named Besten at tinyurl.com/p2w9ee9. There is no Beste in Germany.
