I think Lusted and Lunsted both derive from the Scandanavian surname Lundsted. I guess it's from a toponym.

Sted in Denmark is a cottage.
Lund means grove.
So it's really more a farm-name than a place-name.

Sted can also mean a little more ...like 'homestead' ...a place that's owned ...or something similar ...
