Ivens - derived from Ifan?
Ivens is a family surname and tradition has it in our family that they originally came from Wales, and that the surname is derived from Ifan. When searching for the etymology of the name, I can almost solely find it being derived from Ivor, and thus from the Proto-Germanic *iwo, "yew". Is the idea of a separate etymology for Ivens plausible?
