Re: "Drumpf" (Trump's original last name)
in reply to a message by Lepic
Ancestry lists a few dozen historical records for the name Drumpf. Pfaelzisch often spells and pronounces words with a d, which in standard German are spelled with a t. Unlike Alemannic, Bavarian, and other varieties of High German, where linguistic differences reflect ancient "native" differences in pronunciation, Pfaelzisch and other Rhein- and Mittelfränkisch dialects may be considered a blend of Low Franconian (Istvaeonic) and High German (Irminonic), with more Low Franconian elements in the Northwest and becoming more like Upper High German in in the Southeast, as Frankish influences spread from the lower to upper Rhine, or Alemannic from the upper to lower Rhine.
