Evans as a German surname
I have ancestors who were certainly German who adopted the surname Evans when they came to the US, probably in the 18th century. Are there any similar German surnames? This has been a major roadblock for me in my research since they weren't from the same community as the rest of my ancestors.Rusty Shackleford is my real identity. My name is not Katie.

Evans is a pretty common German surname as you can see at tinyurl.com/m5svadz so they didn't necessarily change their name.
