I believe it's German/Eastern European but I'm not sure... my grandmother was adopted and there is a lot of secrecy there. It's not in the database and I have no idea what it means or where it comes from. Thank you.

Another guess ...maybe something to do with "prince" ...the ending has me a little confused, unless it came originally from dale or dahl which would therefore mean "valley" ...so maybe "Prince's valley" ...just a guess.

Prindl, Priendl, Preindl all exist. The closest name I could find any info on is:
'Prantl: Bairisch-österreichische Form von Brandel bzw. Brändel, hervorgegangen aus einer Koseform von Brand'.
(The surname Prantl derives from the first name Brand, it is Southern German, Austrian.)
I think this must be the origin of your name also, because no German word even remotely resembles Prindle.

I didn't mean to sound too dismissive about Sean's idea. 'Prinzl', short for Prinzlein, 'little prince', is pretty close... But Prindl etc. is almost excusively found in the south of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, so that gave me the idea it might be from a German dialect.
