Would anybody know the meaning of the surname 'Bonano'? Or it's background? It's Italian, and is my grandfather's true last name (he changed it).

It is a variant of BONANNO. Bonano is extremely rare at the moment in Italy. Both surnames are mainly sicilian. They come from medieval names: the so called well-wishing names.
