Hi thereI don't really want to post what my actual last name is on here, but my family has some Irish ancestory on my father's side. A cousin of mine has done a bit of looking into our family history, and apparently, my great-great-great-grandmother (I think!) was widowed when her children were young, remarried, and changed her name and her childrens last name to the name that I currently carry (that of her new husband). So Augood would have been my last name now, if she hadn't changed it when she remarried.Anyway, I was just wondering if you guys could give me any information on the last name Augood? Is it actually Irish, because it doesn't really sound it to me! (But I guess that's just because I keep thinking of O'Connor, O'Malley etc). Any info would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!Check Out for thousands of custom glitters and layouts

Interesting story about your great-great-grandmother! Here is some information I dug up.From and"Augood is an ancient Anglo-Saxon surname that came from the ancient personal name Algod. In Old Danish, the name was Algot, while in Old Swedish, the name was Algut. Although the variant form Allgood appears to be a complimentary nickname, the surname Augood is actually patronymic in origin."Spelling variations include: Allgood, Algod, Algood, Elgood, Ellgod and others."First found in the counties of Northumberland and Durham, although not of Boernician origin as were most of the families in that area."Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: John Allgood settled in the Barbados islands in 1674; being one of the first settlers in North America. It is believed he later moved to the mainland."Motto: Age omne bonum."Motto Translated: Do all good."From
English: variant of Allgood.Allgood
English: from the Middle English personal name Algod, Alegod, Halgod, of Scandinavian origin. Compare Old Danish Algot, from an unattested Alf-gautr ‘elf Goth’ or A{dh}al-gautr ‘noble Goth’.
