HockadayEnglish (Devon and Cornwall): nickname from Middle English Hocedei, Hokedey ‘Hockday’, the second Tuesday after Easter Sunday. Hockday was an important term day, when rents and dues were paid, etc., and from the 14th century it was also a popular festival. The name may denote someone born at this time of year.
