I saw the surname MacDonald is also Americanized from Spanish surname Maldonado. Is it true?

Good question!
But MacDonald is not strictly American or anything. It is Irish, so if anything, Maldonado probably came after MacDonald, not before. Or they could've emerged around the same time. That's what I think, anyway. I am not pretending to be an expert here!
