DeRamus-Black Side
Hi, I’m not sure if anyone will see this post. I’ve been checking my ancestry and so many questions. The last name DeRamus seemed to be popular name in Alabama back in the 30’s and I’m trying to figure out how it got to be my grandmothers name before the migration north. Just wondering where the name really originates from or who gave it to who if that makes any sense.

The surname is from de Ramus 'from Ramus', a placename in Saône-et-Loire in France (https://tinyurl.com/2p9fneh9).
