I think it is greek. I wonder if it is similar to the italian surname MESITI (Messitis?) coming from calabrian greek dialects.
Mesiti means in regional italian "middleman"

Misirlis is a really greak name derived from Turkish "misirli" which means "Egyptian".

In fact there is a popular Greek song called...

Misirlou ("the girl from Eqgypt"), whose twangy US adaptation bacame the soundtrack of "Pulp Fiction" :)
